Topic: BEARING GOD’S PRESENCE – RIGHTEOUS LIVING IN THE WORKPLACE

Text: Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV) – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

The workplace is where we can experience God’s presence and demonstrate righteousness. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us that our work is for God’s glory, not just human approval. Our conduct at work can be a powerful testimony to His presence and righteousness.

Our God is not confined to the walls of a church or the pages of a devotional; He is present everywhere, including our workplaces. Recognizing His presence in our professional lives transforms the way we approach our work, our colleagues, and our challenges.

I once visited a school and used their bathroom, which was astonishingly clean despite serving over 400 people. As I left, I saw a janitor enter the stall I had used. A student told me that at their school, staff view every duty as an act of worship and praise to God. Just as they sing hymns from their hearts, the staff perform all tasks, from teaching to cleaning, as if they were in front of the Lord’s altar, seeking His approval and love with all their being.

Righteousness in workplace means integrity, diligence, humility, and love. It involves treating colleagues with respect, working with excellence, and using our skills for others’ benefit. Ultimately, it is worship to God. We spend much of our lives at work; let us ensure our actions align with our faith. It would be unwise to let our actions at work contradict the values we uphold in church.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for work and the chance to glorify You. Help me reflect Your righteousness and love, navigate challenges with wisdom and humility, and be a light pointing others to You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
