Education & Youths Department

The Education and Youths department of the Church is led by the Minister for Education and Youths, Rev Dr Solomon Ajibade. He works under the guidance of Church Pastor to accomplish the following.

  • Lead the church in planning, conducting and evaluating a comprehensive program of Christian education and for ministry to the teens and youth.
    • The underlisted ministries and committees are supervised by a local leader but overall responsibility falls under the minister for Education and Youths Development.

Ministries & Committees

Home Fellowship

The Home Fellowship committee is the arm of the church responsible for taking the church to the communities where the members live. The primary purpose of the Home Fellowship is to provide a context where members can establish real and lasting relationships. The Home fellowship will lead to the following.

  • Develop friendships
    Caring for one another with practical help and personal encouragements.
  • Celebrate joyful occasions with members.
  • Serve side by side with group members.
  • Encourage evangelism and discipleship that will lead to growth of the church.
  • The home fellowships meet on Sundays, first Sundays mainly for outreach and other Sundays for InReach.
  • The Home Fellowship leaders meet once in a month to pray and evaluate and take care of issues that relates to the fellowships.

Sunday School

The Sunday School ministry coordinates the weekly bible study that takes place immediately after the Sunday Worship service. The ministry is led by a Sunday School Superintendent who under the guidance of the Pastor is responsible for the management of the Sunday School department including the provision of Bible study materials. The Ministry is made up of Teachers for the Sunday School Classes. They meet weekly to prepare for the next lesson and quarterly to prepare the Sunday School Outline

Discipleship

The Discipleship Committee is led by the Minister for Education and Youths and coordinates the discipleship trainings that takes place in Church every Mondays.

Discipleship is both a noun and a verb. It’s a personal identity and a lifelong process in our relationship with God and fellow believers. Discipleship is at the heart of the Great Commission and therefore the heart of New Estate Baptist Church. Discipleship is exercised in various realms within the church, one of which is our local church Bible institute, known as Discipleship’s School.

What is Discipleship’s School and what does it involve?

  1. The PURPOSE of Discipleship’s School is twofold: (1) to equip believers for effective ministry; and 
  2. To produce spiritual leaders who will reproduce other disciples.

The PRINCIPLE behind Discipleship’s School is outlined in Matthew 28:18-20 and 2 Timothy 2:2. NEBC takes this discipleship mandate very seriously. We are fully committed to training those whom God sends to us. We believe that this is our responsibility as a local church. It is part of our discipleship ministry.

The PRODUCT that Discipleship’s School aims to produce is mature believers, who are grounded in the truth of God’s Word (Titus 1:9-10). Wise disciples are faithful believers with a passion for the truth, who are an example to others. Discipleship’s School aims to produce disciples who are proficient and skilled in the Word and who can fulfil the mandate of 1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”

The PREREQUISITES for Discipleship’s School are as follows:

  1. Accountability: Students shall be members of NEBC or anyone who sees the need to be a disciple.
  2. Attitude: Students are expected to submit to Christ and His Word, as evidenced by submission to His undershepherds (Hebrews 13:17).
  3. Activity: Students are required to regularly attend all services of the church, including mid-week service and the Sunday school and prayer meeting. Students are expected to be a faithful part of a Home Fellowship and to be involved in the ministry of NEBC. Punctuality to all discipleship sessions and services is expected.
  4. Ability: Students are expected to have completed the discipleship material (or be well on their way through the course). Students will be required to complete all exams and assignments set by disciplers.
  5. Approval: Students must have the initial and ongoing approval of the church leadership to attend.

The PERSONNEL of discipleship’s School (i.e. the leaders) are the members of NEBC. This is the calling of the eldership (Acts 20:28).

The PLAN of the discipleship’s School is as follows: Classes will be held on a Monday from 6:00 pm to 7:30. Students are not required to take all of the classes offered but are expected to complete the requirements for each class taken.

Youth Organization

The Youth Organization is led by a Youth President who is elected by the Youth organization itself annually. He along with the Youth Diaconate are responsible for the smooth running of the organization with overall supervision by the Minister for Education and Youths

New Estate Teenagers (NET)

NEBC has a special ministry for the Teenagers of the Church with the objective of building them up to face the challenges of their time.
The vision of Teens Ministry is to mold and mentor them until Christ is formed in their lives. Gal. 4:19.
To carry out this vision, the minister and the workers among the teenagers, strive to reach the teenagers and guide them under the leadership of the Holy spirit to receive the love of God and His words and thereafter release them to serve God in the main church and wherever the Lord will lead them.
• The ministry runs a flagship worship on Sundays.
• An on line fellowships on Mondays
• Runs a choir, called Shalom voices
• Has a dance drama group called the steps
• Organizes an annual teens camp.
• Also holds and annual Teens focuses Sunday
• Also, an annual teens and Parent forum, where parents’ teens relationship issues are discussed.
• The teenagers also elect their leaders yearly.
