JULY 29: WHO IS GOD? II

Topic: WHO IS GOD? II

Text: Isaiah 46:9-10

Memory Verse: Isa 46:9 – “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me”.

Who is this Holy God, Our Creator? We ought to learn all we can about Him, since we are created in His Image. As we learn about Him, we learn more about His plans for us.

For us to effectively bear his presence, we must know something about Him.
God is eternal, majestic, glorious, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, holy, just and righteous. He hates evil. God is also loving, merciful, compassionate and unchangeable.

He revealed himself as absolute, self-existent, and independent of all other reality. I think one of the most important verses in the Bible is Exo. 3:14. “God said to Moses, ‘I Am Who I Am’, and he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I Am has sent me to you’”. The phrase “I Am Who I Am” is a declaration of absolute freedom from being created, formed, guided, swayed, or determined by anything outside himself. Whatever God is or whatever God does, he himself is the ultimate source and cause of that.

Here are some implications of what that revelation means for who God is, that revelation of his “I Am Who I Am.”
1. It means he never had a beginning. Nobody made God. God simply is, always was, with no beginning.
2. God will never end. He is an absolute being. If you are being from forever, there is no place to go outside that being. You cannot not be.
3. God is utterly independent. He depends on nothing to bring him into being or support him or counsel him or make him what he is.
4. Everything that is not God depends totally on God. All that is not God is secondary and dependent.

PRAYER: Lord, I appreciate you for revealing yourself to me. As I know more of you and your works, it will enable me to bear your presence the more. Father, help me to stand firm and proclaim who you are to the whole wide world.
