Topic: Attracting God’s Presence through Unity in Praise
Text: 2 Chronicles 5:13, 14
Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 5:13 – “It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD… then the house was filled with cloud (glory), even the house of the LORD”.
The bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). This means that God is always present whenever His children offer praises to His name. However, it is not all praises that attract the presence of God. Praises that are offered to God in disunity, acrimony, jealousy, hatred, malice and the likes, cannot attract God’s presence to His people.
Today’s devotional text says that, “… as the trumpeters and singers were one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD… then the house was filled with cloud (glory), even the house of the LORD (Verse 13).
Notice that it was when the worshippers were ONE and made ONE sound in praise and worship to God that the power and glory of God came down. In verse 14, the glory was so much that even the priests (Ministers of God) could not minister because of the presence of God in the Temple. Wow!
Can you imagine how much power the church can attract from God when we worship in unison? No one was standing around while others were singing. No one was looking around to see who was watching. No one was focusing on his or her clothes, shoes, hairdo, etc. while worship was going on. When everyone yearns sincerely for God during worship, when everyone’s heart is focused on God in worship, surely, God will come down for real.
PRAYER; Oh God, cause us to worship with one heart in your presence in Jesus name, Amen.
