AUGUST 10: The Power of Unity (Part.2)

One of the biggest problems that plague the church today is the problem of disunity. Disunity is a big virus that destroys the fabric of the spiritual strength of the church. Unfortunately, the church seems to be unaware of its destructive effects in her midst.

Today’s text reveals that unity was the driving force of the people as they set out to accomplish a great feat in human history. In verse 1, “They were of ONE language and of ONE speech”. In verses 3 and 4, we notice the use of such phrases as, “They said one to another,…let us…” Genesis 11:6 reveals God’s concern about mankind’s seemingly unlimited potential and capability to do all things that was within their imagination through the power of unity. The bible says, “And the LORD said, behold, the people is ONE, and they have ONE LANGUAGE; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do”. The above verse shows that the potential of fallen man is great. The point here is, if fallen mankind can stand with such great power through unity, what will happen when a regenerated body of Christ unites together in any project whether spiritual or physical?

The church as an institution is also a powerful and capable organism established for great exploits on earth. God has released within the church the potential for accomplishments that are still too great for us to understand. This potential will be greatly manifested and great feats achieved only within an environment of unity. Disunity is one of the powerful weapons of the devil to weaken the strength of the church.

PRAYER: Oh, LORD, bind us with the cord of unity that cannot be broken in Jesus name, Amen.
