OCTOBER 15: “GOD’S PROMISE OF THE PROMISED LAND”

OCTOBER 15, 2024

Topic:  “GOD’S PROMISE OF THE PROMISED LAND”

Text: DEUTERONOMY 7:1-11

Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 7:1 – “When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you.”

As we round up our devotional interaction with the subject of God’s love in the Pentateuch, I want to encourage you to take time to read the five books. Read Genesis through Deuteronomy with the consciousness and intention to discover God’s love on every page you turn. You can be sure to experience a freshness you have never had as you see how loving God has been to errant humanity. Let this deepen your affection for God and resolve to walk in righteousness.

God’s promise to bring the Israelites into the Promised Land was a fulfillment of His love and faithfulness. He chose them not because of their greatness, but because of His love and the Covenant that He made with their ancestors.

Deuteronomy 7:7-8 says, “The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.” This promise reminds us of God’s unwavering love and His commitment to fulfill His promises.

The Israelites’ journey was rough and tough, yet God kept the promise of the Promised Land and fulfilled it. I do not know how rough and tough your journey has been through the wilderness of life, but you can be sure that you will get to your Promised Land. How do you see God’s promises being fulfilled in your life? What steps can you take to trust in God’s promises more deeply?

PRAYER: Faithful God, thank You for Your promises and Your love that never fail. Help me to trust in Your word and believe in Your faithfulness. May I always remember that You are committed to fulfilling Your promises in my life, Amen.
