Topic: “BENEFITS OF INTIMACY WITH GOD: REVELATION OF THE PERSON OF GOD”

Text: Psalm 25:14

Memory Verse: “The Lord confides in those who fear him; He makes His covenant known to them”- Psalm 25:14 (NKJV)

Intimacy with God is more than just the occasional worshipping and praying to God when we remember to. It is an intentional, daily, deep fellowship with God that involves dwelling in His presence and abiding in His word which transforms our lives in tremendous ways. When we constantly build a relationship with God, we have access to His wisdom, His peace, and most importantly, His unfailing Love. The more we fellowship with God, the more we become more like him.

One of the benefits that comes with intimacy with God is Revelation. When we have a deep and intimate relationship with God, He reveals himself to us. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know”. As the Bible passage for today says, when we have an intimate relationship with God and we abide in Him, He orders our steps. He reveals to us things that working alone will not reveal to us, and it will give us the confidence required to do life because we know we are walking in the path God has chosen for us.

Another life-changing benefit of building intimacy with God is the peace that comes with it. Because when trials and tribulations come, as long as you abide in the presence of God, you will have peace. Philippians 4:6-7, reminds us that the peace of God surpasses all understanding, and will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. This peace is the assurance that God is in control, even through the storms that come.

Intimacy with God also empowers us for victorious living. The closer we draw to Him, the more His power is made perfect in our weaknesses. Acts 1:8 promises, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” This empowerment enables us to overcome temptation, serve effectively in His kingdom, and stand firm in the face of adversity.

Lastly, intimacy with God cultivates spiritual fruitfulness. As we dwell in His presence, we are transformed, and our lives begin to reflect His character. Galatians 5:22–23 speaks of the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These traits flourish in us as we abide in Christ, influencing those around us and drawing them closer to Him.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I open my heart to know you deeply. Help me to abide in you and be a reflection of you. Lord, help me to dwell continuously in your presence so that I can experience the life-changing transformation that comes with intimacy with you, Amen.
