Topic: “BUILDING INTIMACY THROUGH THE WORD: EVERYTHING STARTS WITH THE WORD.”
Text: John 1:1-5
Memory Verse: John 1:1-2 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning”.
Knowing how to build intimacy with God through the Word starts with a clear understanding of the meaning of the word intimacy. Intimacy means “close familiarity or friendship” in our context, it means “closeness of observation or knowledge of a subject”.
The foundational system of everything that is God is His word. Everything starts and ends with the word.
Our text this morning clearly shows us that we cannot get anything more intimate than the intimacy between God and His word.
If God is so intimate with His word, it means that if you are to experience intimacy with God in your own life, the system of God requires that you must first become intimate with the word of God.
Recall that Jesus Christ said He only says what the father tells Him (John 12:49-50). It is through the word of God that you can learn how to pray according to the will of God, which in turn draws you closer to Him in the place of prayer.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, teach me draw from the living spring of your Word as I seek to become more and more intimate with you through your living Word, Amen.
