Topic: “THE UNBREAKABLE BOND OF BLOOD SACRIFICE”
Text: Romans 5:7-9
Memory Verse: “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” – Rom 5:9.
We see in the Bible, a powerful symbol of redemption – the ribbon or thread of scarlet as recorded in Joshua 2:18. The ribbon or scarlet thread represents the unbreakable bond of the blood sacrifice, which connects us to God and secures our salvation.
In Joshua 2:18, a prostitute, named Rahab, is instructed by the spies to tie a scarlet cord in her window as a sign of her faith and a guarantee of her family’s safety. This cord represents the blood of Christ which would later be shed for the redemption of humanity.
As stated earlier, the concept of redemption is rooted in the substitutionary sacrifice. In the Old Testament, animals were sacrificed to atone for the sins of the people. However, these sacrifices were only temporary and had to be repeated again and again. The ultimate sacrifice however, is the blood of Jesus Christ, which was shed once and for all to redeem humanity from sin.
The unbreakable bond of blood sacrifice is rooted in the love of God. As Romans 5:6-8 reminds us, God demonstrated His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The sacrifice created an unbreakable bond between us and God, securing our salvation and guaranteeing our eternal destiny.
As we reflect on the power of redemption, let us remember the unbreakable bond of blood sacrifice that connects us to God. Let us celebrate the love of God, which motivated Him to send His Son to die for us.
PRAYER: Dear heavenly father, thank you for the unbreakable bond of blood sacrifice that connects me to you. Thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to pay the price for my redemption in Jesus’ name, Amen.
