Topic:  “THE BENEFITS OF JESUS’ BLOOD”

Text: Romans 5:7-9

Memory Verse: “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” – Rom 5:9.

The Blood of Jesus is a precious gift that offers numerous benefits to believers. In this devotional, we will explore the two most significant benefits of Jesus’ blood: justification and redemption.

Romans 5:9 reads, “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” This verse emphasizes the benefit of justification through Jesus’ blood. Justification means that God declares the believer righteous and acceptable in His sight, not because of their own merit, but because of Jesus’ sacrifice. When we believe in Christ, His blood cleanses our sins, and we are justified before God as if we have never sinned.

Justification involves the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to the believer. This means that God credits the believer with Christ’s perfect righteousness. Justification is a gift of God’s grace, which means that it is undeserved and unearned. Faith is the instrument by which a person receives justification. It is through faith in Christ that we lay hold on the righteousness of Christ.

In Ephesians 1:7, we read, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” This verse calls our attention to the benefit of redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ. Redemption means that Jesus has purchased us from the slave market of sin, setting us free from the power of sin and its consequences. Through the sin of Adam and Eve, humanity became enslaved to sin and its consequences, which include death, separation from God, and bondage. To release mankind from the bondage of sin, God paid the ransom, which is the blood of Jesus Christ. Through the blood of Jesus, we receive forgiveness of sins and are restored to relationship with God.

Redemption results in freedom from sin and adoption into God’s family as His children, thus, providing believers with new identity and a sense of belonging. These two benefits: justification and redemption should constantly evoke gratitude and worship in believers, who should respond to God’s love and mercy with praise and thanksgiving.

PRAYER: Dear heavenly father, thank you for the benefits of justification and redemption given us through Christ Jesus. Help us to walk in the light of your presence, pure and holy in your sight in Jesus’ name, Amen.
