Topic: “INTIMACY AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE CHURCH -n LACK OF TRUST“
Text: Daniel 3:13-18
Memory Verse: “But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image you have set up” Daniel 3:18
One of the tools Satan uses to wage spiritual warfare against Christians is lack of trust in God. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were three Hebrew young men in captivity in the land of Babylon. Despite being in captivity, they maintained their intimacy with God. They refused to serve or worship the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar set up. Some Chaldeans came forward maliciously accusing them of disobeying the king. The matter was reported, and the king summoned them for questioning. A burning fiery furnace had been prepared into which they would be thrown if they refused to worship the golden image set up by the King. They refused to worship the golden image and were eventually thrown into the fire. The Lord proved Himself faithful.
Dead or alive, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego knew they belonged to God. They were at peace with God and with themselves. “Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee” – Isaiah 26:3. How many Christians will not denounce God today if threatened by death? Satan can only destroy the body; he has no power over soul – Matthew 10:28. Let us always remember to claim God’s promises anytime we are troubled. God is always faithful to make a way for us whenever Satan threatens. Our disobedience to God is a symptom of a profound lack of trust in Him. Trust in God is our living faith.
Stephen, when he was being stoned to death, committed his spirit to the Lord, prayed for his enemies, that the Lord should not count the sin being committed against them – Acts 7:59-60. What a great faith, a great trust in God, a great love demonstrated by a dying man. Beloved, we need to trust the Lord sincerely in order to live a victorious and rewarding Christian life.
PRAYER: My dear heavenly Father, if I cannot trust you, I will easily disobey you. Grant me, the grace to trust you always no matter the situation I find myself, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
