Topic: “PEACE THROUGH ABSOLUTE TRUST IN GOD“
Text: Gen 39:1-23
Memory Verse: “And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.” – Romans 8:30.
The account of Joseph is a classical example of what it means to trust God absolutely, notwithstanding what may be happening around you. It means trusting and loving God not because of what he has done for you but because of who He is. This is the master key that unlocks the main entrance door of peace.
The enemy knew the purpose and of plan of God for Joseph, he then set in motion, a plan to truncate everything by using various agents along the way, beginning with his own blood brothers (Gen.37:19-25).
He eventually ended up in Potiphar’s house. Despite all his travail, he still had absolute trust in God and did not lose his peace, just because his disposition towards God was right, that attracted God’s presence wherever he was, be it Potiphar’s house or prison (Gen. 39:1-2; 20-22).
In both cases above, his freedom both as a Slave and a prisoner should ordinarily be limited, but God gave him both peace and favour and made him Boss even in these unpleasant situations.
Absolute trust in God brings peace, even in turbulent times. When we fix our minds on Him, His peace guards our hearts and minds.
The action points when you have put all your trust in God are as follows:
- Surrender Control: Let go of worries and fears, trusting God’s sovereignty (Proverbs 3:5-6);
- Focus on Him: Keep your mind fixed on God’s promises and character (Hebrews 12:2).
PRAYER: Lord, help me to trust You completely. Fill me with Your peace, calm my fears and worries. Strengthen my faith, Amen.
