Topic:  “PEACE THROUGH STEADFASTNESS“

Text: 2 Corinthians 4:8-18

Memory Verse: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” – Isaiah 26:3.

Remaining steadfast in faith and trusting God brings peace. When our minds are fixed on Him, His peace guards our hearts and minds.

From the account of Paul, it was very clear that he suffered all sorts of persecution and hardship in various ways, he was shipwrecked, imprisoned, and publicly beaten and other forms of hardship all for the sake of the gospel.

The above notwithstanding, he remained steadfast and unwavering in his faith, which is definitely an indication that he had peace despite all the storms of life he had to contend with. No wonder he said in Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice”.

In order for you to be steadfast even in the face of tribulations, the following are some of the steps that could be of assistance.

  1. Focus on the eternal. This helps you to think of things above which have eternal value, rather than things on Earth which are temporal, and whatever tribulations that may exist at any given time. (Col. 3:2);
  2. Hold on to God’s Word and promises which can never fail, because once He has said it, He will do it. With this in mind, nothing can steal your peace. (Isaiah 55:11);
  3. Finally, have a firm belief in God’s faithfulness.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to stand firm in my faith. Give me peace that comes from trusting You. Strengthen my resolve to follow you to end, Amen.
