Topic: “PEACE THROUGH HOPE“
Text: Hebrew 6:9-19
Memory Verse: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13.
The Bible refers to hope as an anchor for the soul; hope brings peace in uncertainty.
The Bible speaks of at least 3 kinds of hope, Proximate hope (for an immediate situation) Ultimate hope (in God’s ultimate plan) and Robust/Resilient hope (which acknowledges the need for change, while trusting in the ultimate hope). These three are not mutually exclusive, but rather work together to provide for an understanding of how hope functions in the life of a believer.
In some of Paul’s epistles, he was usually concerned about three critical elements in his admonition to the Churches he interacted with; these elements are love, faith and hope. As a matter of fact, it is clear that these are not optional to any believer, rather, they are essential for their survival in the faith.
Hope brings joy when you divert your attention from the happenings around you on focus on God faithfulness and His promises; absolute trust in Him dispels anxieties.
For believers to experience peace through hope when the storms of life show up, the following are necessary.
- Find joy in hope, worry less about what you are seeing, focus on the Word of God let hope bring peace and joy to your heart (Romans 12:12);
- Trust God’s faithfulness in keeping His promises to carry out His good thoughts for your life and give you hope (Jer. 29:11);
- Fix your eyes on Jesus Christ, always remember the sacrifice He made on your behalf on the cross of Calvary.
PRAYER: Lord, fill me with Your hope and peace. Help me trust Your faithfulness and promises. May my heart overflow with joy and peace in Jesus’ name, Amen.
