Topic: “THE VOICE FROM HEAVEN“
Text: Matthew 3:13-17
Memory Verse: “And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’” Matthew 3:17
Our passage for today is one of the few places you will find all three members of the Trinity visibly present. At Jesus’ baptism, we see: the Son obeying the Father, the Spirit empowering the Son, and the Father affirming the Son. This moment was a public confirmation that Jesus was indeed the One foretold, the beloved Son sent to save the world from sin. The Incarnation was not only about God being with us but also about the Father revealing His relationship with the Son.
Do you notice that before Jesus preached a sermon, healed the sick, or walked on water, the Father declared His love and approval over Him. The Father’s delight was not based on performance but on relationship. Jesus was beloved before He began His ministry. The same is true for us! God’s love is not earned; it is given freely because of who we are in Christ.
The Incarnation bridges the gap so we can enjoy the same affirmation: in Christ, the Father says to you, “You are My beloved child, in whom I am well pleased.” Spend a few minutes imagining the Father speaking these words over you. How do you feel? The Voice from heaven overrules the voice of guilt, past errors and present mistakes that says you are not good enough and must earn God’s love. You are His beloved in whom He is well pleased, “to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6 NKJV).
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the love and affirmation You declared over Jesus, and thank You that in Him, I share in that same love. Help me to live through Your approval, not for it. Let my life be a reflection of Your delight in Jesus’ name, Amen.
