Topic: “GOD’S BIG INVITE“
Text: Genesis 12:1–10
Memory Verse: “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1.
The Lord, the maker of the universe, is always in the business of inviting men to join Him in the fulfillment of His plans and purpose in the universe. This was thus the basis of God’s invitation to Abram. Abram just had to respond to God.
Abram, who later became Abraham, trusted God. When he was invited to join God on a journey, he did not know how it would end. It started with a command, and Abram, without hesitation, took the steps necessary. Secondly, we seen compliance. Abram was 75 years old, yet he took steps to leave his comfort zone. The third thing we see is that Abram’s compliance connected him to something larger than and beyond himself. The Lord said to him, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”
As we step out today, remember that none of us can tell for certain what is going to be ours tomorrow; it is like going into the unknown. We plan, we work, and we execute great projects, but man is unsure of tomorrow. All that we can do is take one day at a time and trust God for each day like Abram did. We do not know our tomorrow, but we know God who holds our tomorrow. The Lord is inviting us daily on a journey of faith; we have to fight off fear and step out on the journey that will shape our lives. God’s invitation begins with saying, “No.” No to where we are now so that we might say yes to where He is taking us. God’s invitation to us is to trust Him, even when the path is not clear.
PRAYER: Our Father, we thank you for loving us so much that you are always inviting us to join you in the fulfilment of your purpose. Help us to trust you and step out in obedience to your invitation. Help us never to rebuff your love for us, help us like Abram to embrace your special invitation daily in Jesus’ name, Amen.
