Topic: “FAITH OVER FEAR“
Text: Hebrews 11:1-12
Memory Verse: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
There is a constant battle going on in our lives between faith and fear. Many times, we struggle with trusting God for what He has said and our current realities. Fear is always waiting for a chance to enter our lives. Fear is that sensation, feeling, or inner knowing that anything could happen, and the result of what happens will not be good.
Faith, on the other hand, is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Charles Spurgeon once said, “Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened.” Is that not a beautiful image? As we stand on the stairs of love, peering through the windows of hope, we find ourselves in the presence of faith. Thus, it is this faith that we will focus on today, the faith that empowers us to face any fear, the faith that finds strength in God’s promises, and the faith that reassures us that we are firmly upheld and never forsaken.
As we stand firm in our faith, our faith is strengthened when it is enveloped in the promises of God found in His word. As a car is powered by the fuel in the tank of a car, so God’s word powers our faith to fight off fear. Faith is a God-given gift to HEAR God’s Word and DO what God says. Our faith is firmly rooted in God’s word (Romans 10:17). As you step out today, fight your fear with faith in the word of God. Let your faith’s Venture begin to act on God’s promises.
PRAYER: Our Father, we thank you that our faith in your word empowers us to fight off our fear. Help us daily to trust your word, depend on your word and deploy your word when fear comes calling in Jesus’ name, Amen.
