MARCH 2: UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WILL

DATE: Monday, 02 March 2026
TOPIC: “UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WILL”
TEXT: Ephesians 5:15-18
MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” – Ephesians 5:17 (ESV).

God created us in his image according to his likeness. One of the nature and attributes of God is wisdom. As God’s children created in His image, we have God’s wisdom and He said anyone that lacks wisdom should ask Him because He gives it generously. The scriptures before us today emphasize the importance of knowing the will of God and it is foolishness to be ignorant of God’s will.
Since it is imperative to know and understand God’s will, the question we should seek to answer is how do I know God’s will? In the text we considered yesterday looking at the life of Jesus, He said He came to do God’s will as written in the book. This implies that the more you interact with God’s word by reading, studying and meditating, the more you will discover God’s will for you.
Also, you discover God’s will in the place of prayer. Prayer helps you to discover the mind of God, provides clarity when you are confused and strength to carry out God’s will. Jesus knew God’s will, however, at the verge of fulfillment, He had to pray for confirmation and clarity. He needed to check if there was another alternative to what was ahead of Him. He had to get to the point of total surrender to God’s will and God honored this act by providing the strength required to carry out the task.
In Matthew 7:7 Jesus admonishes us to ask, seek and knock. Ensure to ask seek and knock until you receive a definite word from God concerning His will for your life. Lastly, check out your burdens, what is usually a major concern for you that others may not necessarily be bothered about? Most times, God gives us a burden that help us to navigate His will for our lives.
Do not forget that it is foolishness to be ignorant of God’s will and to lack the wisdom to know, understand and live out your life solely to fulfill His purpose for your life.
PRAYER: Lord, fill me with your wisdom so that I can fulfill your purpose for my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.
