SEPTEMBER 21: “LOVE IN ACTION”

DATE: Monday 21  September  2026

TOPIC:  “LOVE IN ACTION”

TEXT: 1 John 3:17

MEMORY VERSE:  “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” – 1 John 3:17 (NIV).

God is love. Not just that He shows love, but that His very nature is love and because we carry His Spirit, we are called to reflect that same love in the way we live and relate with others.

God does not ignore the needs of His children. He sees, He responds and He provides. In the same way, those who belong to Him are called to be channels through which His love is expressed to others.

This scripture challenges us directly: if we have material possessions and yet see someone in need without compassion, then something is missing in our expression of God’s love.

The first response God expects from us is empathy, the ability to truly see another person’s need and be moved by it. Not just to acknowledge it, but to ask, “How can I help?”

But it does not end at feeling sorry. Scripture calls us beyond pity into action. This is exactly what God demonstrated through Christ. Jesus did not love from a distance. He gave Himself completely, laying down His life so that we might live. That is the standard we are called to reflect.

We may sometimes say, “This is all I have,” or “I cannot afford to give.” However, love challenges that mindset, because the truth is, we are all needy in someone else’s eyes at different points in life. Generosity reminds us of our shared humanity.

Sometimes, the person you help, may be the very one God uses to bring transformation, even salvation, into your life or their own.

So, the call is simple but deep: do not hold back love, Give, Share, Help. In doing so, you are not just meeting a need, you are revealing God.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to love like you, Amen.
