TOPIC: “ACCOUNTABILITY”
TEXT: Proverbs 11:14
MEMORY VERSE: “Without wise leadership, a nation falls; with many counselors, there is safety.” – Proverbs 11:14 (NLT)
The Christian race is personal but not “private”. Privacy is devil’s strategy of isolating a believer for destruction. Every leader needs a leader and every leader is safe to the extent of wise counselors and accountability structures that surround him. Being accountable is not weakness, it is wisdom. Leadership becomes dangerous when a leader becomes uncorrectable. Accountability is not a threat to authority; it is protection for authority.
Wise leaders deliberately create relationships where trusted people can ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions and point out blind spots. No leader is immune from error. They recognize that leadership gives influence, but it does not give omniscience.
Isolation can make a leader confident in error. Counsel creates opportunities for correction before mistakes become disasters. “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety.”
So, who has permission to challenge your decisions, attitudes and behaviour?
PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from pride and isolation. Surround me with wise, courageous and trustworthy counsellors in the name of Jesus, Amen.
