Topic: GOD TOOK THE FIRST STEP TO INTIMACY
Text: Gen 3: 8
Memory Verse: “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.” Gen. 3: 8a
Intimacy between two people grows through interaction between them. This is greatly enhanced by communication and availability of the two people.
God took it upon Himself to have regular bonding time (fellowship) with Adam and Eve. As written in our text today, God met with them frequently in the ‘cool of the day’. He took the first step to improving the intimacy between them. This shows that it is God’s pleasure that we be intimate with Him. Even today, God still desires to be intimate with Man. Man needs God to be fulfilled but God does not need Man to be fulfilled, yet God chose to draw close to Man and have fellowship with us because of His great love for Man. That is why he said, “for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matt. 18:20
He also said in the Bible “… and he that comes to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37b. So, whether it is an individual or a group of people He is ready and willing to fellowship with us because of His great love for Mankind.
He calls you today to come to Him and you will find rest for your soul. Therefore, to build intimacy with God, only requires your decision and making yourself available, because He is already willing and is only waiting for whoever will step forward.
Prayer:
Oh Lord God, thank you for your love for Man. I desire to be intimate with you. I pray that you help me to be faithful in seeking you always in Jesus’ name. Amen
