Topic: SIN: A HINDRANCE TO SPIRITUAL SENSITIVITY

Text: Genesis 3:1-7

Memory Verse: Genesis 3:7 – “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves”.

The Creation of Man is unique and different from all other creation. Man was created in God’s image and likeness because of the prominent role he occupies in Creation. God longs for fellowship and a love relationship with the Man He has created. That is why Man was the only creature that was made with the ability and capacity to be in fellowship with God. What a great privilege!

This fellowship between God and Man was going smoothly until Chapter three of Genesis when Man disobeyed. God had earlier warned him not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:16-17), but the devil came and deceived them into eating the forbidden fruit of sin and disobedience. The moment they ate the fruit, something very bad happened to the man and his wife. They were eternally separated from God. They lost their relationship and fellowship with God. This is what sin does. Sin separates a man from his fellowship with God and makes him spiritually dead and inactive. What a great tragedy. Permit me to submit to you that the greatest tragedy that can ever befall a man is to lose his fellowship with God.

Friend, has sin cut you away from your relationship with God? Have you become eternally separated from your Maker as a result of sin? Today is your day of repentance. The provision of restoration of fellowship has been made available through the finished work of Jesus on the Cross. Come to Jesus in penitence, confess your sins and iniquity to Him and He will restore you back to fellowship with your Heavenly Father.
