Topic: DOING GOOD TO ALL – Stop!.. and Appreciate

Text: Rom 16: 1-27.

Memory Verse: Galatians 6:6 (NKJV): “Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches”

Have you ever heard of the phrase “self-made man”? Several times, I hear this phrase used by successful people in relation to how far they have come in life and I’m forced to consider the statement as not completely true. We must be honest as Christians. We are called into a life of sincerity and dependence on God. Without the Grace and Mercies of God, nothing can be achieved.

When tempted to consider ourselves as “self-made”, we must stop and think. Ask yourself some basic questions such as; How was I born? Who fed and nurtured me? Who taught and educated me? Who paid for the life I lived when I couldn’t earn? How did I gain employment? How did I begin my profession? In other words, who are the people responsible for helping me throughout my life? Who contributed towards my upkeep and ascension?
Paul, in his letters, acknowledged both the people who contributed to his life and ministry. Paul unfailingly acknowledged God at every given opportunity. Remembering and acknowledging people in our lives who have in one way or the other contributed positively to our lives; does not reduce our efforts and achievements, rather it helps people who observe us appreciate who we have become over time.

So, begin to acknowledge God and everyone that matters in your journey to where you are today. Stop and consider.

Prayer – Heavenly Father, I am so sorry that more often than not, I stand too close to the mirror of life and therefore cannot see all the selfless efforts of the beautiful people you’ve sent my way in this life’s journey. Forgive dear Lord and teach me to appreciate You and others in my life. I pray this with humility in my heart in Jesus’ Name! Amen.
