Topic: DOING GOOD TO ALL – Acceptable Giving
Text: Proverbs 11:24-25, 2 Corinthians 9:7.
Memory Verse: Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV): “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
In the current situation in our country, Nigeria, there is a great need for us to give to those in need. However, it is not just enough to give; we must also give in a way that is acceptable to God. Acceptable giving involves giving with the right motive, attitude, and heart. It is not just about the amount or the act of giving, but about the condition of our hearts and our willingness to give sacrificially.
As believers, we are called to be generous and to give cheerfully, as God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). When we give, we should do so with a heart that is motivated by love and compassion for those in need. We should not give out of obligation or compulsion but out of a desire to serve others and more importantly, bring glory to God.
Proverbs 11:24-25 reminds us that when we give freely, we gain even more. Generosity leads to prosperity, and whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. When we give to those in need, we open ourselves to God’s blessings and favour. God is pleased with those who make the right choices and give with the right attitude and motive (Psalm 11:5).
Let us be mindful of how we give and the condition of our hearts to do this in an acceptable way to God. Let us not give in expectation of receiving something in return but give out of love for others and obedience to God. As we give, let us remember that our giving is a reflection of God’s love and grace to us.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for your Love and Grace. We ask that you help us to give in ways that are acceptable to you. May our giving be motivated by love and compassion for those in need. Help us to give sacrificially and with a cheerful heart. We pray that as we give, we would be a reflection of your love and grace to those around us. We pray for Nigeria, that you would bring peace, comfort, and provision to those in need. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
