Topic: Control of all things
Text: Acts 17:26
Memory Verse: EPH 1:11 – “ In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”.
Control suggests power to make decisions. It is also the ability to allow and disallow. It is the power of how much or how little.
God has power over all things He has made. He has not lost it, neither will He ever lose it.
From our scriptural passage today, God who is the creator of all things also determined their beginnings and the endings and where they should live.
We must honour Him who created and controls all things. Nothing is out of control with Him. Even when things are out of our reach and control, He knows the end from the beginning (Isa.46:10). He is still very much in charge. It is our duty to acknowledge Him as Sovereign and depend on Him when things are out of control with us.
Rev 4:11 says, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Eph. 1:11 says, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”.
We as the objects of God’s creation must know that our Creator guides all things according to His own purpose. We need to surrender to His control when things do not go as we plan. We need to seek His will and be well guided. This will help us to be at peace when things are not under our control, and we would be assured that all things will work out ultimately for our good. In Rom. 8:28, we are assured that, “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Therefore, when things are out of our control, we need to know that God is still in control and this assurance should lead us into adoring and honouring God.
Prayer: Oh Lord my Father, I surrender the control of all things to you even when they appear not to be within my reach and control, I am assured that you are in control and will work all things ultimately for my good in Jesus’ name.
