Topic: THE MANUFACTURER’S MANUAL
Text: Prov. 25:2; Job 5:9-13
Memory Verse: Eccl.3:11- “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end”.
The manual is the book or leaflet that accompanies any manufactured product, which guides the use and durability of the product or safety of the user. It also speaks to the purpose of this product from the manufacturer. Why is the manual necessary? Why not allow the use of the product to be at the discretion of the user or buyer?
The simple answer is, no one knows the product better than the Producer. No one masters it better than the one who created it. This is because the inherent capacity of the product is determined by the manufacturer. He knows the potential or capacity of his product, but the end user can deploy this knowledge only if he knows it too.
Just like the manual, God who is Owner and Creator of all things, has also provided the Manual for Creation which is the Bible. The Bible speaks to all the wonders of God in the universe and defines their purpose. We should therefore seek the knowledge of the Owner of the universe through His manual, the Bible. We cannot explore the diverse and vast creation outside Him nor know more than He has revealed. He has the manual, and He interprets it perfectly, too, through His Spirit. Deut. 29:29 says, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
We can know and explore only to the depth of our revelation from the Owner of the creation. 1 Cor.2:16.
Only the deep can call to the deep. The more we know Him through the manual, the better we are at exploring creation for its purpose. When we seek to explore creation outside of His knowledge, we abuse, misuse and misplace the purpose of creation.
Prayer: Creator of the universe, thank you for the opportunity to explore the wonder of creation through the pages of your word, help me to receive daily insights to the purpose of my being and all that you have placed around me in Jesus’ mighty name.
