Topic: HIS SOVEREIGNTY
Text: Dan 4:34-37
Memory Verse: “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and is to come” Rev 1:8
Every time we view God with human lenses, we tend to see Him less than He truly is. This may explain why we sometimes act towards Him in a manner that suggests that He is actually at our beck and call. How often we end up ship-wrecking our individual faith and that of others by failing to appreciate the sovereignty of God over our lives and circumstances. Until Prophet Isaiah saw the Lord in His majestic glory, he did not realize how unworthy he was before the King of Kings, and the mission awaiting him (Isaiah 6:1-8).
The idea of God’s sovereignty presupposes His dominant power or absolute authority over all creation. Throughout history, God has continued to demonstrate His sovereignty in the lives of men and nations, as they tend to act as if they can exercise similar power, but the Lord of Hosts sits atop the heavens and beholds them with laughter.
In contemporary times, as it was with King Pharaoh and King Nebuchadnezzar, some world leaders have acted as demi-gods in their domains in the fake belief that they have the last say on people’s affairs or global matters. God has proven over and over that His glory will never be shared with any man (Isaiah 42:8). He exercises His choices and preferences at will, and all for His own pleasure (Rom 11:33-35, Rev 4:11).
Beloved, let us learn to acknowledge and subject ourselves and our circumstances to the sovereignty of God and we will then become candidates ready to swim in the depths of the ocean of His abundant and enduring grace for every season.
Prayer: Father, I bow and tremble at your majestic honour and splendour. Be magnified in my life, oh Lord, my God and my Redeemer.
