Topic: INVITATION TO HIS PRESENCE
Text: Exodus 33:19-23
Memory Verse: “And the Lord said “behold, there is a place by
me where you shall stand on the rock – Exodus 33:21
One day, my Pastor told me that a member of the church had invited us to come for buffet meal in his company. That was my first time of hearing of such a thing and I made enquiry from people around in order to know what a buffet meal was about. Coming to the knowledge of what it is, I was looking forward to it because of varieties of foods that would be available. Eventually, the day came and it was interesting.
The Lord led the people of Israel out of captivity in Egypt. At some point in their journey, the Lord resolved not to lead them any more due to their stubbornness and unyieldingness to His commandments. He offered an angel to lead them to the Promised Land but Moses refused His offer. Moses had been walking with God, conversing with him as a human friend, so, he knew the importance and joy of having God lead the way.
Beloved, it is interesting to see the Lord offering Moses a seat beside Him. And the Lord said “behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock”. This is an eye-opener and reminder to us that the Lord is seriously seeking intimate relationship with all of us, the kind of relationship He had with Adam and Eve before the Genesis chapter 3 experience.
What a great opportunity to sit with the Lord of Lords and King of kings. The Creator of both the heavens and earth. The mother of two of Jesus’ disciples came to ask Him for the opportunity for her sons to sit to his left and right side when he gets to the Father. Although this was not granted, but I can see the Lord of glory inviting you to come, to be a Dweller of His presence. “And the Lord said behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock”. Do you want to honour His invitation or reject it? You have a lot to enjoy in His presence, joy unlimited, maximum safety and abundant life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I say thank you for inviting me to sit where you are. I make your presence my dwelling place from this day. Amen
