Topic: TALITHA KOUM (GETUP)
Text: Mark 5:21-24, 35-43
Memory Verse: “He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”) – Mark 5:41.
Life is full of challenges and trials of all kinds and it is natural to seek help wherever one can get it. In fact, many people travel across the sea to seek medical attention while many others go to far villages to seek diabolical means of getting their problems resolved. Though we know as God’s children, the latter is not allowed. Our help comes only from God who made the heaven and the earth.
Jairus was a ruler, a man of affluence and influence but he had a serious challenge concerning his daughter who was sick to the point of death. Though the scriptures did not tell us whether he had sought help from other people, he came to Jesus for the healing of his daughter. Behold, while he was with Jesus, another news came that his daughter had died and that he should not bother Jesus any longer. The all-knowing God heard the conversation and said unto him, “Do not be afraid; just believe” Mr. Jairus was a wise man who knew where to run and who to approach for help. He brought his burden to Jesus, the Master of the Universe and he put an end to it. Getting to the house, indeed, Jairus daughter had died and the wailers were already wailing in hopelessness, but the Game-Changer turned the narrative around for good. He spoke in Hebrew language to the dead girl “Talitha Koum” meaning “Get Up” and the spirit of death left her immediately.
Beloved, are you in pain and confronted with any life-challenging situation You need to take a wise decision by seeking Jesus’ presence. Jairus sent for Jesus and He followed him to his house. The woman with the issue of blood needed healing and she got it. It is possible that people or the realities of the things confronting you are saying there is no hope for you again, remember they told Jairus the same. It is possible that the wailers have gathered around you? Arise and go to Jesus. “Your own “daughter” shall live again. His presence makes the difference.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I am in need of help; deliver me from shame and ridicule. Come and touch my “daughter”.
