Topic: THE DESIRE OF ASKING
Text: : Psalm 27:4
Memory Verse: “ One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze
on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:4.
One day, a woman was traveling out of the country. She called and asked me to name one thing I would like her to buy for me. I never knew that it could be a challenge for a man to fill a blank cheque until it happened to me. It took me a week to get back to her. Choice making is not as easy as many people think, especially when it comes to a choice of one thing.
David the king of Israel asked God for only one thing among a host of things such as wealth, protection, provision, promotion, breakthroughs, etc. He asked for the presence of the Lord; seeking opportunity to have his permanent residence in the house of God. In fact, it was not a wish for him, but a serious matter. Those who know the beauty and blessings attached to God’s presence will never go for anything less. Who or what can make a man that is in the presence of God to be afraid? “Though an army encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, Even in this I am confident” Psalm 27:3
At this point in time, you need to ask yourself the following questions. What is my one primary pursuit in life? Is it obsession for money or material things? May the Lord help your heart to settle for what lasts and what is profiting in Jesus’ name.
Prayer: My Lord and my God, make the pursuit of your presence my priority in life, make me a man of your presence. Increase my appetite for your presence in Jesus’ name. Amen
