Topic: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE POWER IN GOD’S PRESENCE
Text: Mark 10: 46 – 52
Memory Verse: “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say; Jesus, thou Son of David have mercy on me.” Mark 10: 47
Blind Bartimaeus was in Jericho begging for alms as he used to do ordinarily and suddenly he heard the noise of people passing, after inquiry he was informed that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. He immediately cried out to Jesus for Mercy.
It is obvious that he must have heard about Jesus before this time or else he would not have known that God’s power was present in Jesus and that he could change his life for good.
This teaches us not to be weary of acquiring knowledge because one day, our prior acquisition of knowledge will be our source of blessing.
Blind Bartimaeus immediately he knew that it was Jesus passing by, shouted “Jesus Son of David have mercy on me”. He was not ashamed; he also did not allow the multitudes who were asking him to keep quiet to stop him. He knew that the presence of Jesus was the presence of God’s power and he was not going to allow this wonderful opportunity to pass him by. He shouted the more and Jesus stopped and called for him.
Let us in the same way, take advantage of God’s presence in our homes, fellowships and churches to cry out to God for mercy. Let us not pay attention to the multitude of discouragers, but let us be focused on the blessings we seek.
Finally, when he got to Jesus and was asked what he wanted, he did not beat about the bush, he answered immediately, “That I may receive my sight”. Let us also learn to be specific in our request to the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your presence with me and my family. Thank you for your presence in our fellowship and Church.
