Topic: GOD’S PRESENCE BRINGS JOY

Text: Mark 5: 21- 43

Memory Verse: “And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith has made thee whole, go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” Mark 5: 34

God’s purpose and plan for mankind is a life of peace and joy but Adam’s sin brought hardship and sorrows to man. However, God’s purpose is still the same, that man will live in peace and joy. That was the reason why everywhere Jesus went, he brought joy into the lives of those he healed and delivered, His presence in a place meant joy for many in that location.

In the passage we are studying, Jesus was just coming from the town of the Gadarenes where he had delivered a mad man (Verse 1 – 20). He was met by Jairus, a ruler of the Synagogue who asked Him to come and heal his daughter. Jesus immediately followed him to bring joy to his home.

While on his way to Jairus’ house, the woman with the issue of blood touched His garment, because she said “If I may touch his clothes, I shall be whole” and indeed she was instantly healed as Jesus turned around and asked “who touched my cloth” because he knew that power flowed out of his body.

The woman trembling with fear confessed what she had done. However, what did Jesus do? He comforted her and told her “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole, go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.’ The woman left the scene full of joy. This shows that God is very interested in our well-being and is glad for us to be well.

He furthered demonstrated this by calming the ruler of the Synagogue, Jairus whose child had died because of the delay caused by the woman. Jesus told Jairus “be not afraid only believe” and true to His word, Jesus raised his daughter and there was joy in his house.  Do not be afraid, only believe in God and He would bring joy to your life.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I believe you love me and want the best for me, I pray you fill me with your presence that your joy may remain with me always in Jesus name. Amen.
