Topic: CONDITION FOR EXPERIENCING GOD’S PRESENCE – KNOWING WHAT BELONGS TO US

Text: Proverbs 2:5 Hosea 4:6. Prov.13:15-16

Memory Verse: Prov.13:15 “Good understanding winneth favour, but the way of the transgressor is hard”

Jesus on earth knew the all the conditions for experiencing God’s presence. He fulfilled all the conditions throughout His life. “My Father heareth me always because I do what pleases Him”. “If a man loves me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come to him” John14:23 (A condition is when we do what pleases God, we experience God’s Presence). Prayer is a visit to our Father.

Jesus  was a man of prayer. Why did He need to pray? Because He took His human place, and lived the human life. Jesus did not draw upon the vast secret resources that belonged to Him more than it is possible for us believers. He had a human body; He had the limitation that go with the Incarnation. The believer is a New Creation, created in Christ Jesus. He is in the family of God. He is an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. The believer is a child of God. The Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells is his body. In addition, Jesus has given him the right to use His Name.

The difference between Jesus and the believer is that Jesus knew what belonged to Him and Jesus used His rights. Whereas, we do not know what belongs to us. Not knowing what is ours, we cannot use our rights. God was not more His Father than He is ours. He said, “The Father loveth you as He loves me.” He was the Son of God; you are also a son of God.

He was Deity; you a believer are a partaker of the Divine nature, which is Deity. He had the Holy Spirit dwelling in Him. You a believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling in you.

The difference is that Jesus gave the Holy Spirit right of way in a sense of which we have not yet learned. He took advantage of the Zoë- the God kind of life in a way that we have never yet been able to take advantage of – the God-life within us.

Pray: Ask God for understanding of your joint-heirship in Christ
