Topic: “Fulfilment of His Covenant through Our Redemption”
Text: HEBREWS 10:1-18
Memory Verse: “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations” – Deuteronomy 7:9.
When Man fell, God made a promise to redeem him from sin. He told the serpent that its head will be bruised by the Seed of the woman-Gen.3:14. This talks about the victory over sin that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ. All through the Old Testament, we see the prophecy of the coming Saviour that was fulfilled in the New Testament. The Lord God did not ask the serpent anything because He knew and knows his three-fold ministry –to kill, to steal and to destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it in abundance- John 10:10.
We are partakers of this covenant as soon as we receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. By extension, we inherit all the promises that come with this covenant of victory. Blessed be the name of the woman’s Seed. The old serpent head is bruised while the wounded heel of our Saviour is the joy and delight of our hearts.
What is that promise that God has made to you as His child? He does not fail! He is faithful to His word. The Psalmist says ‘He honours His word more than His name.’ Hold unto His word!
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the redemption of my soul. Help me to believe and hold on to Your word until it is fulfilled in Jesus’ name.
