Topic: “Redemption Gives Assurance of Our Righteousness”
Text: ROMANS 8:31-39
Memory Verse: “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” – 2Cor. 5:21.
Righteousness sounds like one of those strict church words from the Bible.
Righteousness according to Dr. Aerial Ellis in his book titled ‘Righteousness’ means pursuing the character of God. It simply means ‘one who is right. “It means learning God’s standard and mirroring it with all your might”.
It has less to do with your own behaviour and more to do with your heart. It shows that your heart and actions align with God.
Our righteousness is of and from God and has nothing to do with our being moral. The Bible says that ‘our righteousness is like a filthy rag- Isa.64:6. Vs 32 of our Bible reading for today, states that God did not spare His Son but delivered Him up for us all- to die for our sins so we can be inputted with His righteousness. Even the devil cannot lay any charge against us as the elect of God as there is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.
As long as we embrace and remain in Christ Jesus who died for our sins, He has made for us a garment of righteousness that covers our nakedness so that we are not afraid to stand even before the throne of God.
PRAYER: Father I appreciate you for Your righteousness that has been given to me through the work of Jesus Christ. I pray oh Lord that I will not make light of this gift in Jesus’ name.
