Topic: BEARING GOD’S PRESENCE – CHOSEN FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

Text: Deuteronomy 6:25, Genesis 37:23, 28, 39:8-9, 41:39-41
Memory Verse: “Genesis 39:9 – “No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”

What does it mean “to bear”? It is the ability to carry and be seen doing it. True Christians, according to 1 Peter 2:9, are chosen into God’s family. The wordings of an old song quickly comes to mind;

“We are the people of God,
called by his name,
called from the dark,
and delivered from shame,
One holy race,
Saints everyone,
because of the blood of Christ,
Jesus, the son.”

We are not Christians because our parents are Christians. Neither are we Christians because we were born in Christian backgrounds. No! In John 6:44, Jesus said no one comes to him except the Father draws that person to Himself. In other words, the Lord calls all his children and draws them. God calls his children from various ethnic groups and nationalities and brings them into a spiritual family by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord God becomes our spiritual father and the Lord Jesus Christ, Our older brother. That is why Christians all over the world relate as brothers and sisters. We are of the household of God or members of God’s family (Ephesians 2:19). The spirit of God is the seal that God confirms this. Our righteousness does not depend on any human standards, praise God.

PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, help me to keep in mind the legacy of my faith. Help me to put aside all physical differences and relate with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. May I worship you in truth and spirit, forsaking all prejudice of the flesh for the promises of Christ in Jesus’ name, Amen.
