Topic: BEARING GOD’S PRESENCE – RIGHTEOUSNESS IN RELATIONSHIPS

Text: Colossians 3:12-14 (NIV)

Memory Verse: Col.3:12 – “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience”.

Our relationships with others can provide us with opportunities to express God’s righteousness. As His chosen people, we are called to embody His love and grace in every interaction. Colossians 3:12-14 reflects a wonderful demonstration of righteousness in relationships, urging us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Righteousness in relationships is beyond mere politeness; it involves actively demonstrating God’s love and character to those around us. This means showing compassion to the hurting, extending kindness to the unkind, and offering forgiveness to those who have wronged us. Here are practical ways of righteous living in relationship;

Compassion: Understanding the struggles and pain of others affords us opportunity to show empathy and compassion, offering a listening ear and support.

Kindness and Humility: Be deliberately kind and humble in your interactions. Little acts of kindness in humility can have a profound impact on the lives of those around you.

Gentleness and Patience: Approach others with gentleness and patience, especially in moments of conflict or misunderstanding. Remember that everyone is on their own journey, and extend grace accordingly.

Forgiveness: We follow the example of Christ by forgiving others as we have been forgiven. Let go of grudges and bitterness, choosing instead to offer grace and reconciliation.

Love: Let love be the principal thing in all your relationships. Love binds together all the other virtues mentioned in Colossians 3:12-14, creating a foundation of unity and harmony.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for relationships. Help me to live out Your righteousness in my interactions with others. Clothe me with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. May my relationships be a reflection of Your grace and glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
