Topic: “BEARING GOD’S PRESENCE THROUGH POSITIVE INFLUENCE –
CHARACTER”
Text: Colossians 3:12 – 4:1
Memory Verse: Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him”.
The Oxford English Dictionary describes “character” as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. That is, attributes seen, or felt, or experienced by those who come in contact with the individual. As Christians who profess Jesus, we must exhibit godly character at all times. We need to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, tolerance, forgiveness, all bonded together by love.
The family is the basic unit of the society. The bible prescribed the kind of character expected to be exhibited by the different members of the family, from verses 18 to chapter 4:1. Imagine each member exhibiting these godly characteristics, what a wonderful society we would have.
PRAYER: Pray for families with troubled homes, ask that the peace of the Lord will reign in such homes. Pray for yourself to develop a godly character and exhibit same all the time.
