SEPTEMBER 8: “Showcasing the power of God through surrender”

Topic:  “Showcasing the power of God through surrender”

Text: 2 Corinthians 12:9

Memory Verse: Philippians 2:13 – “It is God that works in us both to will and do of his good pleasure”.

Nobody likes a scandal or a story of shame because it labels you. You feel as though every whisper behind your back is because of that incident. I cannot say the same for this social media era we are now in as it seems the more outrageous the story, the better reception it gets so that the person can trend and become popular.

However, our focus should rather be on these hidden secrets and weaknesses that do not make their way to the knowledge of others, but grieve our God and make it impossible for us to have a fellowship with him. Without surrender, we cannot enjoy the freedom that Christ has promised us. God always uses the mess of our lives for his message.

God does not expect you to surrender in your own strength, or by the power of your will. God wants to work it in you, he wants you to seek his help and believe in him to grant you victory. By that he will turn what is wrong, to conquer what is evil and work what is well-pleasing in his blessed sight.

What makes us complete and fulfilled is not the success that men see, but the sacrifices that God wants us to make, the self that he wants to be surrendered to him. The kingdom of God is a paradox, where victory comes through defeat, healing comes through brokenness and finding self comes through losing self.

Today, meditate on the promise that Christ’s power will rest on you and turn your weakness into his strength. If there is anything holding you back or any sacrifice you are afraid of making, turn to God and trust in his power.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, because your grace is sufficient for me. As I surrender to you today, take control and turn my situation around. May my life bring you glory in Jesus’ name, Amen.
