All through the Holy Scriptures, God revealed Himself in various ways especially through His names. The name Elohim highlights God as the mighty Creator, His name is also Jehovah, the self-existent one. He is El Shaddai- the God almighty. He revealed Himself to Abraham as Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide. At other times he revealed Himself as Jehovah Rapha (The Lord who heals), Jehovah Nissi (The Lord is my Banner), Jehovah Shalom (The Lord is peace), El Elyon (The Most-High God) and Jehovah Sabaoth (the Lord of hosts). Each of God’s names reflects a different aspect of His power and grace. The name of the Lord reveals who he is.
In John 16:23-26, Jesus told his disciples that He would answer their request if they ask in His name. There is great power in a name, our names are important and mean a lot to us, but do not command the power that the name of Jesus does. Jesus’ name is the only way through which God has made available to us to seek him; Jesus earned it by the sacrifice he made for mankind on the cross. His resurrection has made it possible for all to have access to God in his name.
For the names to have a meaning in your life, you need to have a relationship with God. You can take that decision by confessing your faults and asking Jesus to forgive you and invite Him to be your Lord and Savior. He will do it for you.
