Topic: “Showcasing the power of God through Sanctification”
Text: 2 Timothy 2:19-21
Memory Verse: Heb 12:4 – “Ye have not resisted unto blood, striving against sin”.
Sanctification is the work of God’s grace in making us holy. God sets our sanctification in motion by electing us to conform to his image. This happens as we do away with sin and seek the strength that is in the Holy Spirit to live holy as unto the Lord. Of ourselves, we cannot be sanctified and the fruit of the spirit must be evident in our lives, then with the help of God, we can be set apart for him.
Sanctification gives you victory over sin and guarantees answers to your prayers. When separated from sin you become dedicated to God’s righteousness and you are set apart for his purpose. As we have shared on a previous day, God is Holy and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. To worship in spirit and in truth will require complete surrender to him. God sees all things and knows all things therefore; we cannot hide sin from God.
2 Tim. 2:21 encourages us to purify self from sin, it means to clean out, to purge and remove. We cannot remove sin without the help of God, he is the one that cleanses and helps us to purge and remove sin through his Holy Spirit. God wants us to be vessels of honor and not of dishonor to him, by so doing, we become useful as his instruments for his kingdom work. A vessel is used to keep things and when kept in the vessel, the item is preserved. Our lives are such containers for the presence of God. We should be conscious of what we allow in the vessels that God intends to use for his glory.
The world we live in is a fallen world, our culture of right values has been eroded, but the standards of God do not change. We as Christians must fight against the moral decadence that has pervaded our world. The films we watch, the music we listen to, the choices we make, have impact on our eternity. Heb 12:4 states, “Ye have not resisted unto blood, striving against sin”. God says that it is important to resist sin, even if it takes our live. What is the worth of saving our lives if we do not make eternity?
PRAYER: Father, I consecrate my life again to you today, use me for your glory. Let my life be a worthy vessel fit for your use. I repent of any sin in my life, I ask that you purge me and cleanse me today, Amen.
