DECEMBER 09: “SILENT HEAVENS”

DECEMBER 09, 2024

Topic: “SILENT HEAVENS”

Text: PSALM 130

Memory Verse: “Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy” Ps 130:2.

Prayer, simply put, is communication with God. We talk to Him, He responds. Yet, sometimes God seems to be silent. We cry and plead and there is NOTHING, no seeming response. The heavens seem impenetrable. In these times, God may just be ‘weaning’ us from our baby status, just as a loving mother does. It is a time when we must start to chew solid food.

God weans us from our entitled cries for attention, our insistence on having things go our way ‘now-now’. Ultimately, God is our Father and like all good parents, He does not always let us have our way. He does this out of love. Our Father wants us to be mature enough to receive what He has for us. He wants us to be better, stronger and kinder. He wants us to resemble Him. Therefore, God’s silent NO, His discipline, is all part of His love (Heb.12:8).

When did you and I last struggle with God’s silent rebuke or a feeling of being abandoned by Him? Yet, as surely as night follows day, know that if we continue to seek God’s voice, His arms, His Presence, He will show up once again.

PRAYER: My Heavenly Father, as you have never stopped running after me, may I never stop looking for you, everyday of my life, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
