Topic: “INTIMACY WITH GOD AND THE FULFILMENT OF LIFE’S PURPOSE”
Text: Psalm 63:1-8
Memory Verse: “My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me” Psalm 63:8.
It is important to remind ourselves that we were created by God for a definite purpose, and that we can only be fulfilled when we identify and live in complete alignment with that purpose. Since we were created by God, it is only in Him that we can truly identify the purpose for our lives. Walking in a close relationship with God gives meaning and purpose to our lives. We must never lose sight of the fact that our primary calling is for an intimate walk with God, Acts 17:28
David’s passion for God was so strong, it even had effect on his physical body; he cried; my flesh yearns for you Oh God! Hiding from his enemies in the barren desert of Judah, David was intensely lonely and longed for a friend whom he could trust to ease his loneliness. Knowing there could be no one better, he cried out to God …my soul thirsts for you… in a dry and thirsty land.
If you feel lonely and are thirsty for a lasting companion who can walk you through the path that leads to the fulfilment of purpose, then you need to remember David’s prayer. Only God can truly satisfy your deepest longings.
When intimacy with God becomes the best thing in your life and takes priority over everything else, you begin to experience the fullness of Knowing God-Psalm 63:3-4. With this, all the possessions, power, pleasures, and prestige that this world offers become empty, and your life becomes completely transformed. Intimacy with God therefore never leaves your life the same.
Today as you meditate on this, renew your yearning for God. Cling to Him and begin to enjoy an intimate relationship that transforms you inside out.
PRAYER: Lord it is in you that I live and move and have my being. Please help me never to leave you, Amen.
