Topic: “A CURSE IS UNBEARABLE!”
Text: Deut. 28:1-2,15 NKJV
Memory Verse: Deut. 28:15 “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you”.
I often wonder why some Christians only read the books of Psalms, raise prayer points from there, and maybe other parts of the scripture that sound so sweet to hear and bear. However, one of the scriptures most abandoned and forgotten is this passage being considered today. Discovering this passage brings fear to my heart, as I pondered, knowing that this was also inspired by God and written by men.
The pleasure of sin is real, but the pain of the consequence is unbearable. Every child of God needs to pay attention to this scripture. Imagine that this chapter has 68 verses, there are 13 verses full of blessings, then 55 verses dedicated to curses! What holds my heart is, every blessing between verses 1 and 13 will follow the one who obeys the Lord, then all the curses in the last 55 verses will stick to whoever disobeys the Lord!
I told myself; anyone who has to suffer all these curses is better dead! Why will someone be alive and suffer all these? Curses are real, we must be aware of them, then beware of whatever will attract a curse to one’s life.
PRAYER: Sovereign Lord, grant me the heart to tremble at your word and not to trash your word.
