Topic:  “THE POWER OF GOD’S LOVE – PREFERENCE”

Text: Romans 8:33-34

Memory Verse: For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Eph 1:4.

The power of God’s love is deep and far reaching, beyond boundaries. The love of God prefers whom he shows it to. God guards jealously his own chosen ones. The devil who brings accusations before the throne of God against Gods’ elect cannot succeed as long as God’s love is in place. Where the accuser, the devil stands to accuse, there also is the Advocate, Jesus Christ, who makes intersession for the saints.

Heb. 7:25 says “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them” (ESV) Jesus lives to make intercession for the beloved of God and also the Holy Spirit. Rom 8:27 says “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”

God’s love is protective. His love made Jesus to take the place of man on the cross so that he bore the guilt of sin and suffered the condemnation that was due to man. God’s love does not only redeem man from the condemnation of eternal destruction, but also secures him against the assaults and accusation of Satan by putting in place, divine insurance.

We must not take over the ministry of accusation or condemnation from the devil by condemning the sinners when we ourselves have received the free gift of God in Christ Jesus. It is only right that we allow God’s love to be shed abroad in our hearts by allowing the world to see the power of this love in the way we show love, just the same way we have received it.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for choosing me as your beloved. I resist every temptation to self-pity and inferiority complex in Jesus’ name, Amen.
