MAY 09 “THE POWER OF GOD’S LOVE – GIVING”

The love of God is multidimensional and multifaceted. It is so unlimited and has the capacity to deliver to man according to his needs. Today, we shall examine the second way God’s love was demonstrated according to Romans 8:32- “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Another dimension of God’s love is giving. It describes perfectly the nature of God’s kind of love. This nature is one that gives and gives again. The power of a thing is measured in its capacity to carry the weight of work assigned to it. So it is, with the love of God which is never tired of giving to man. The capacity of God’s love is such that it can give anything that man needs. By giving the most precious gift of His son to mankind is a guarantee that there is nothing he cannot give to man.

1 John 4:9-10 breaks it down this way: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”  God’s love is sacrificial, it gives even when it is not convenient.  We are further challenged to demonstrate same kind of love. I John 4:11-12 tells us: “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” God’s love makes us who have received it to become givers of the same.

PRAYER: Father, help me to give like you have given me. Help me to place greater value on your love for me through my giving back to you, Amen.
