Topic:  “THE POWER OF GOD’S LOVE – DELIVERANCE”

Text: Mark 5:1-21

Memory Verse: “The Lord your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” Zeph. 3:17.

The power of God’s love is unstoppable. Jesus demonstrated the extent to which the love of God could go to save and deliver the helpless. The mad man in the scriptural passage today, was so helpless that ‘no one could help him’; no chains could bind him; no place within the city could house him; no friend nor relative or family member could assist him. He was left alone to live in the place where dead bodies are buried; he was helpless and hopeless.

However, Jesus travelled in search of this helpless man, who could not even pray, to help him and to deliver him from the oppression of a legion of demons. A legion is about 2000 to 6000 in number. God’s love still delivers the oppressed today. It stretches and bends over to lift the downtrodden. Oppression is one of the works of Satan and his cohorts in the world today. 1 Peters 5:8 says, “…Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” But thanks be to God who gives victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:57)

The Love of God guarantees our victory over Satan’s oppression and schemes at all times. 1 John 3:8 says, “… The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” Jesus stated clearly that part of his mandate on earth was to deliver the oppressed. (Luke 4:18).

There is no one who is helpless and hopeless with the love of God. God’s love is able to rescue anyone who is in the captivity of Satan even if the person is a lawful captive. Isa 49:24-26 confirms this. Are you feeling oppressed, or dejected? Ask the power of God’s love today to do his work in you and you will experience his touch in deliverance.

PRAYER: Father Lord, I ask for deliverance from any oppression of the devil in any area of my life and please deliver everyone who is oppressed around me today in Jesus’ name, Amen.
