Topic: “THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE”
Text: Revelation 12:10-12
Memory Verse: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” – Rev 12:11.
The altar of sacrifice is a powerful symbol in the bible, representing the intersection of God’s mercy and majesty. It is a place where the holy and the sinful meet, where the wrath of God is satisfied, and where mercy and forgiveness are extended.
In the Old Testament, the altar of sacrifice was a physical structure where animals were sacrificed to atone for the sins of the people. The blood of these animals was shed to cover the sins of humanity, foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The altar of sacrifice is also a spiritual symbol, representing the heart of God. It is a place where God’s mercy and majesty meet, and where His love and justice are balanced. At the altar of sacrifice, we see the majesty of God’s holiness and the mercy of His forgiveness.
Today’s text, Revelation 12:11, reveals that the altar of sacrifice is a place of victory, where believers overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb. The blood of Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice, satisfying the wrath of God and extending mercy and forgiveness to humanity.
As we approach the altar of sacrifice, we must remember the mercy and majesty of God. We must come with humility and reverence, acknowledging our sin and our need for forgiveness.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for the altar of sacrifice where your wrath is satisfied and mercy and forgiveness extended to me. Help me to come before you always in reverence and gratitude, acknowledging my sin and my need for forgiveness in Jesus’ name, Amen.
