Topic: “THE MEMORIAL OF JESUS’ BLOOD ”
Text: Luke 22:17-20
Memory Verse: “And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me” – Luke 22:19.
As believers, we are called to remember the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ who gave His life for our redemption. The memorial or remembrance of Jesus’ blood is a powerful reminder of His love and sacrifice, and it is a crucial part of our spiritual lives.
In today’s devotional text, Jesus institutes the Lord’s Super, commanding His disciples to remember Him through the bread and the cup. The bread represents His body, which was broken for us, and the cup represents His blood, which was shed for our redemption.
As we participate in the Lord’s Super, we are reminded of the memorial of Jesus’ blood. We remember that Jesus’ blood was shed for our sins, and that through His sacrifice, we have been redeemed and forgiven. We remember that His blood has the power to cleanse us from all sins, and to give eternal life.
But the memorial of Jesus’ blood is not just a ritual or a tradition; it is a powerful spiritual reality that has the power to transform our lives. As we remember the sacrifice of Jesus, we are reminded of His love and His mercy, and we are filled with gratitude and worship.
PRAYER: Heavenly father, thank you for the memorial of Jesus’ blood. Help me to remember the sacrifice of Jesus and participate in the Lord’s Super regularly. Fill me with gratitude and worship as I reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
