Topic: “SACRIFICE AND SPLENDOR ”
Text: Hebrews 2:8-10
Memory Verse: “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” – Heb 2:9.
The bible reveals a paradoxical truth; that sacrifice, and splendor are intimately connected. In the person of Jesus Christ, we see the ultimate sacrifice, who gave His life to redeem humanity from sin and its consequences. Yet, in this sacrifice, we also see the splendor of God’s glory, revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.
The Hebrews 2; 9 passage highlights this paradox. Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels, suffered death on the cross, yet was crown with glory and honour. The glory and honour are not just a reward for His sacrifice, but are also a revelation of God’s character and nature.
The sacrifice of Jesus is a demonstration of God’s love and justice. In His sacrifice, we see the depth of God’s love for humanity who were created in His image, yet rebelled against Him. We also see the justice of God, who demands payment for sin, yet provides the payment Himself through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The splendor of God’s glory is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, who is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His Being (Hebrews 1:3). In Jesus Christ, we see the glory of God’s redemption, which is a demonstration of His power, wisdom and love.
While we reflect on the sacrifice and splendor of God’s redemption, we must not forget the depth of God’s love for humanity and justice of His character. Let us also remember the splendor of God’s glory, revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.
PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for the sacrifice and splendor of your redemption. Reveal to me the splendor of your glory and help me to live in the light of your redemption in Jesus’ name, Amen.
